All About NEET 2025 Exam Pattern: Changes, And More

Introduction

The NEET 2025 exam pattern has changed, NTA has removed section B from the upcoming NEET exams. Hence, there will not be optional questions for the aspirants. The exam will continue to its pre-COVID format, eliminating the additional time and optional questions that were introduced during the pandemic.

These changes were implemented for a short period to address the challenges posed by COVID-19 and they remained in effect until NEET UG 2024. From the year 2025, the NEET UG paper will consist of 180 compulsory questions—45 each in Physics and Chemistry, and 90 in Biology—with candidates required to complete the exam within 180 minutes. Why NEET Exam is Conducted in Pen-Paper Mode?

Over the past year, there have been various debates about switching the NEET UG to a Computer-Based Test (CBT) format. However, the Centre has decided against this transition for the 2025 exam.

The key reason for sticking with the pen-and-paper mode is the familiarity and accessibility it provides to candidates. Conducting a computer-based NEET exam would require an extensive digital infrastructure, which may not be uniformly available across the country. Additionally, the pen-and-paper format ensures that students from rural and remote areas can participate without any technological issues.
