CTET 2025: Syllabus, Time And Much More

Introduction

The CTET an abbreviation for Central Teacher Eligibility Test is a national-level examination conducted by the Central Board of Secondary Education (CBSE) in India. It is designed to assess the eligibility of candidates for teaching positions in primary (Classes I-V) and upper primary (Classes VI-VIII) levels in central government schools. The aspirants who aim towards building a career in teaching should be diligent in qualifying for CTET 2025.

The exam is conducted as an offline mode of examination. A candidate is required to obtain a minimum of 60% to qualify for the exam.

Candidates qualified in the CTET exam 2025 can apply for teaching posts in government schools. They will have to undergo the selection process as specified by the respective school, before being shortlisted for the appointment.

The offline examination has two papers, each worth 150 marks. Candidates can attempt either Paper I (for teaching classes 1-5), Paper II (for classes 6-8), or both papers.

The CTET 2025 syllabus encompasses a wide range of topics altered to assess a candidate's teaching aptitude and subject knowledge for primary and elementary stages. For Paper I, which targets teachers for classes 1 to 5, the syllabus encompasses Child Development & Pedagogy, Language I, Language II, Mathematics, and Environmental Studies. Paper II, aimed at teachers for classes 6 to 8, covers Child Development & Pedagogy, Language I, Language II, and subject-specific content such as Mathematics and Science, or Social Studies/Social Science. The syllabus ensures a comprehensive evaluation of both pedagogical skills and subject expertise required for effective teaching at various educational levels.

CTET 2025 Applicability

The CTET certificate applies to schools under the aegis of the Central Government and Union Territories, including institutions like KVS and NVS. This certificate also be considered by unaided private schools and state government schools if the state decides not to conduct its own TET.

-        The CTET 2025 shall apply to schools of the Central Government (KVS, NVS, Central Tibetan Schools, etc.) and schools under the administrative control of UTs of Chandigarh, Dadra & Nagar Haveli, Daman & Diu, and Andaman & Nicobar Islands, Lakshadweep, and NCT of Delhi.

-        If you want to crack the KVS TGT and the KVS PRT examinations, then you must meet the eligibility criteria defined by Sangathan along with C. The specifications mentioned for Trained Graduate Teacher or TGT is Graduate + B.Ed + CTET, i.e. a candidate who has cleared their graduation in a specific field along with their Bachelors in Education with the qualifying marks from the CTET exam. On the other hand for KVS Primary Teachers, the qualification is 12th pass in any stream with their D.Ed/ JBT/ B.Ed (Diploma in Elementary Education/Junior Basic Training/ Bachelor in Education) clearance degree and the qualifying marks from the CTET examinations.

-        Aspirants wishing to clear the NVS TGT and the NVS TGT in third language exams must have all the minimum qualifications defined by the selection committee. For both NVS exams, the qualifications are graduation in any discipline along with a Bachelor's Degree in Education and CTET qualification.

-        CTET 2025 may also apply to unaided private schools, which may exercise the option of considering the CTET. 

-        The schools owned and managed by the State government/local bodies and aided schools shall consider the TET conducted by the State Government. However, a State Government can also consider the CTET if it decides not to conduct the State TET.
